MANSFIELD — The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment had its September promotion at its new location at 44 W. 4th St., in Mansfield, inside the former Buckeye Children’s Museum.
The promotion marked their first event in the new location.
“The students were thrilled about the space and opportunities for learning and movement,” said Sensei Reneta Music.
The new location provides 5,600 square feet of floor space divided into three “dojo” spaces that can accommodate up to 50 students at a time, along with a private training area.
The following students received new belts:
– Adrian Potts: Red Belt
– Emerie Benedict: Blue Belt
– Ronnie Winck: Blue Belt
– Kayden Harris: Yellow Belt
– Zach Ballengee: Yellow Belt
– Olivia Cains: Orange Belt
– Abraham Clark: Green Belt
– Colin Hall: Purple Belt
– Penelope Potts: Orange Belt

The “Student of the Month” award was presented to Abraham Clark.
“Last month, Abraham wasn’t quite ready to test for his next belt, but he persevered and diligently trained, eventually earning his green belt this month,” Music said.
“By taking the extra time to train and learn, he built more confidence within himself, a fact that was reflected in his performance and knowledge of his kata,” she said.
The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment is a non-profit traditional karate school that offers classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, starting at 5 p.m.
The current class tuition is $55 per month, and scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis. No child will be turned away due to income, Music said.
“Feel free to stop by during the hours of 5 to 8 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays or Thursdays at the new location to watch the students train, or call 419-405-5711 to speak with me and schedule an appointment,” she said.
Private training is also available.
