MANSFIELD — Jodie Perry is six months into her first term as the mayor of Mansfield.

On Tuesday, she will talk about her first 180 days in office during an interview on the News Man Weekly podcast at Richland Source.

The mayor will join Richland Source City Editor Carl Hunnell to discuss all aspects of her administration — what has gone right, what has been most challenging and her plans for the city going forward.

“It’s been an interesting first half of the year since Jodie took office,” Hunnell said. “I look forward to chatting with her about all of it.”

“We have seen a rebirth in the city parks. We have seen announcements of economic development and other advances. We have seen a stabilization in terms of staffing in the city’s safety forces.

“There has been a great deal of infrastructure improvement with more to come after voters approved a tax issue in March that will launch millions of dollars for water main replacement around the city,” he said.

Each week, Hunnell will offer a look at the biggest news headlines of the week and he will also interview a local newsmaker who will join him in the studio. So join Hunnell and producer Zac Hiser each Tuesday for The News Man Weekly.

“But we have also seen City Council deny her request for a moratorium on a recreational cannabis dispensary, opening the door to the possibility for a marijuana store in the city. How will that work in Mansfield?

“And at the same time, there are problems Jodie inherited that still are problems today. What does she plan to do about the decaying West Park Shopping Center? What are the plans for recouping hundreds of thousands of dollars from a botched demolition of the former YMCA on Park Avenue West?

“Speaking of Park Avenue West, the crackdown on ‘cruising’ on the Miracle Mile has sparked controversy. Does she have plans for a longer-term solution?” Hunnell said.

“It should be a great conversation and I hope folks will join us to hear it.”
