The intersection at Shelby-Ontario Road and Park Avenue West is part of the "Old Ontario" neighborhood. Reveille Planning Group is hosting a planning session for the neighborhood on July 2 at 3 p.m.

ONTARIO — The City of Ontario is asking residents to participate in a planning session focused on the “Old Ontario” area at the intersection of Park Avenue West (OH-309) and Shelby-Ontario Road/Lexington-Ontario Road.

The session is scheduled for Tuesday, July 2 at 3 p.m. in the Ontario High School library at 467 Shelby-Ontario Road. Drinks and refreshments will be provided.

As a part of the PLAN Ontario process that began in September 2023, residents and students were able to complete surveys to help the 14-member planning committee identify broad planning themes and issues, along with solutions and resources to address them.

The plan is being drafted under three main themes: Community Growth and Revitalization, Connected Community and Infrastructure.

Many residents and students have identified the “Old Ontario” neighborhood,
centered on the intersection of Park Avenue West and Shelby-Ontario Road/Lexington-Ontario Road as an area they would like to see “reimagined” as a community-oriented space better connected to Marshall Park and Ontario Local Schools, along with additional neighborhood commercial uses.

As a result, the City of Ontario will be hosting a planning session for all residents to seek input for the future of the Old Ontario area. The planning session will focus on examining the existing conditions of the area, and identifying opportunities for growth and redevelopment.

To date, over 1,500 residents, students and other stakeholders have either completed one of three community surveys so far or have been interviewed. There’s still time for residents to completed the community survey or community preferences survey. These surveys can be completed by visiting the Ontario City website at www.ontarioohio.org.

The community preferences survey can be completed by going directly to the survey at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OntarioPreferencesSurvey.

Reveille, a Bowling Green, Ohio-based firm that specializes in comprehensive community
development and urban planning solutions, will be facilitating the meeting and is assisting the city of Ontario in developing Ontario’s Comprehensive Community Plan.
