COLUMBUS — The state of Ohio is giving families additional time to use funds given to them to help students with academic and enrichment activities after school.

The Ohio Department of Education says families who have been awarded funds through the Afterschool Child Enrichment program will now have until Sept. 1, 2025 to spend the $1,000 provided per child, per school year.

The deadline to submit claims for reimbursement or payments has been Oct. 15, 2025.

“Ohio students who experienced learning disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic are benefiting from before- and afterschool enrichment activities funded by ACE,” Director Stephen Dackin said.

“We want to ensure students receive the full benefits of the program, and extending the deadline gives those who were approved additional time to access educational opportunities.”

The program is funded through House Bill 45 which expanded access to the program for students and families who experienced learning disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Families can use the funds to pay for tutoring, day camps, music lessons, study skills services, and field trips.

The state says while the application window for the program has closed, those who are already enrolled can still access qualifying activities before the new deadline.
