MANSFIELD — Kailey Bradley is the new Bereavement Coordinator with Hospice of North Central Ohio, serving clients in Richland , Ashland and Crawford counties.

A licensed professional counselor through the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, Bradley specializes in grief counseling and support.

In addition to serving the families of HNCO patients, Bradley is passionate about offering bereavement services to the community at large. Individual grief counseling and grief support groups are offered free of charge to adults and children in the six counties served by Hospice of North Central Ohio.

In addition, children’s bereavement camps are held each summer to assist children in the grieving process.

Bradley is a recent graduate of Ashland Theological Seminary with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She is currently working toward a certification in thanatology, the study of the needs of the terminally ill and their families.

Bradley sees her role as a grief counselor as one of a companion.

“I’m thrilled to be shedding light on grief and bereavement and giving people a safe place to journey without any judgment or stigma,” she said. “Grief is a process, not something you just get over.”

Under Bradley’s direction, a new group called Passages will begin Monday, Aug. 29 from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and continue for 11 weeks. This grief support group for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one will meet at Hospice House, 1050 Dauch Dr. in Ashland.

A special event specifically for daughters who have lost their mothers will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22. The Grieving Daughters Retreat will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hospice House in Ashland.
