Bertha E. Corathers, of Mansfield, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 16, 2024. She was 102.

She was born on October 25, 1921 in Mansfield, Ohio to parents Arthur and Meta (Bonnin) Croak. On May 6, 1943 Bertha married the love of her life, Neal Corathers. The couple spent 58 wonderful years together until his passing in 2001, now they are together again.

After they were married Bertha and Neal moved to the Toledo area where she worked in a department store and as a grocery sample saleswoman. They were also very active in their church, where Bertha served as the pianist and sang in the choir for roughly 65 years. Being a talented musician, she loved the traditional hymnals, but often liked to add her own flavor to them.

In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, ping pong, mowing the grass, picking fruit from their many trees, and baking- she was especially known for her apple pie. Above all else though she loved her family, and she loved being a mom to her two sons.

Bertha is survived by her son Kenneth (Sharon) Corathers of California, daughter-in-law Judy Corathers of California, special niece Betty Rinka whom she resided with, as well as many more beloved extended family members and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, son Paul Corathers, only grandchild Douglas Corathers, and her sister Mary Eileen Schroff.

The Corathers family will receive guests on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 10 am to 12 pm, at Berean Baptist Church. A memorial service honoring Bertha’s life beginning immediately after at noon. Pastor Jim Berry will speak.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Bertha’s honor to a charity of your choosing.
