Charles Edwin Miller “Bud” passed away peacefully at his home in Mansfield, Ohio on April 15, 2024, at 9:04 PM, just shy of his 93rd birthday. Bud was a loyal husband, beloved father, talented goldsmith, creative artist and prolific storyteller. He was surrounded by family members and will be deeply missed.

“Bud” was born on May 27, 1931, to Glenn C. and Myrtle (Hanlon) Miller and was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School Class of 1949. He and his brother Maynard Miller went on to start Miller’s Jewelry on the square in downtown Mansfield, Ohio in 1951. Together, they built a long-standing business based upon the values of quality, integrity and trust. Miller’s Jewelry, now owned & operated by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Deborah Miller, remains a successful, trusted business, due in large part to his influences.

Bud loved spending time with family and friends at Lake Erie, boating, fishing and swimming. In retirement, he and his wife Doris traveled extensively. They moved to Florida close to their daughter and son-in-law Debra & George Wood, where they enjoyed the warmer climate, swimming and golfing. Bud “adopted” a pet eagle, which allowed him to feed it from his bare hands. Following the death of his wife in 2022, Bud moved back to Mansfield, with Michael and Deborah, where he spent many hours creating artwork and enjoying his two cats, Diamond and Gems.

Bud served in the Air National Guard 164th Fighter Inceptor Squadron from 1948 to 1956. He was a member of the Mansfield Marquis and Venus Masonic Blue Lodges (F & AM) for 67 years, a member of Shriners of North America, the Mansfield Baku Grotto, Life Member of the Mayflower Society, S.A.R. and O.G.S of Richland and Crawford Counties. Genealogy traces him to the 39th generation from King Charlemagne.

He is survived by daughter, Debra Wood of Florida and son and daughter-in-law, Michael Miller and Deborah Miller of Mansfield Ohio; grandchildren, Jeremy (Mary Amber) Hughes, Lisa (Jay) Rothhaar, Kyle Miller (Julia Gomez-Cambronero) and Jessica Miller; brother-in-law, Gary (Debra) Broach; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; brother, Maynard; and son-in-law George P. Wood III.

Family and friends may gather from 10:00-11:00 am on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the Life Celebration Reception Center, 129 S. Main Street. Masonic Services conducted by Venus Lodge #152 (F & AM) will begin at 11:00 am followed by funeral services conducted by Chaplain Chad Berry. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 1 Children’s Plaza 2 West, Dayton, OH 45404 or the Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Ave. W., Ontario, OH 44906.
