MANSFIELD – The north central Ohio high school and 4th and 5th-grade Academic Challenge teams finished up their seasons this month while 6th and 7th/8th have one final tournament in May, according to the Mid-Ohio Educational Service Center.

“We want to congratulate all competitors but especially our winners for each tournament,” MOESC said in a press release.

“Students continue to amaze us with their increased knowledge and positive response to a tournament where ‘challenge’ is encouraged,” said Leanna Ferreira, tournament director.

Crestview coach, and parent of Academic Challenge competitors, Christina Kelley, was impressed by the students, too.

“We have three kids who love competing and a fourth who can’t wait to be old enough to participate. Our family loves to learn, and Academic Challenge gives our kids the chance to apply what they have learned in a fun, team context,” Kelley said.

“As parents, we love seeing them grow in knowledge, teamwork and confidence. It encourages even more learning.”
